The Weeds:
I was thinking today about what can happen when we allow too many weeds into our gardens. They start small, but with a few rainfilled days, can grow like wildfire! I started to think about MY garden, MY life, MY dreams. Then I started thinking about weeds as things that creep into my life and start to eat away at my dreams. Those weeds, not literal weeds, but weeds like Fear, Distraction, Negative thoughts can, if ignored start trying to take over. These three weeds can destroy my garden! I have to remember WHY I decided to plant this garden again and then I must see my way through the mess and pull those weeds! Sometimes I need a shovel to get deep down and get the roots out! Why did I plant the garden/dream a dream? I planted this garden to enjoy several different things..... in my literal garden, I plant tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, squash, basil, oregano, cantelope almost evey year. I do this so that I can enjoy fresh, pestiside free, delicious vegetables and fruit! I also plant and water and care for these things because it gives me a sense of accomplishment! My business dream/"my why" was to always do something I love, work with women and help them succeed, to truly enjoy going to work everyday, yet have a flexible schedule so I can still have time with my daughter and husband when it counts!
Remember the dream:
I have a dream, a dream to succceed in my jewelry business and yet, there are times when I get discourged or loose faith because of a little set-back like a party being cancelled. Most of the time, I do not allow these dissappointments to creap in and eat away at my enthusiasm, but occassionally I do and generally it's because it wasn't just one dissappointment, maybe it was 3 or 4 all coming at the same time or in the same week.
Those three things I mentioned, that tend to turn into serious obstacles, are weeds that I must keep pulling. It doesn't just happen once, they come back from time to time, just like my garden weeds come every spring. I have to be diligent and keep an eye out for those nasty weeds! I ask my friends to warn me if they see any sign of them so I can get them when they're easy to pull out by just grabbing them at the base, instead of using a shovel! I'll never give up on my dream of having a business, but I know you can be easily derailed and feel as though you can't keep going. That's the time to find a friend who knows you well, who can help you remember "your why" and maybe even help you replace those weeds with new seeds of hope, positivity and focus!
May all your dreams come true!
And if you don't know your "why" take some time and try to figure it out over the course of a few weeks...... it can really make a difference and help you focus and persevere!
